EPI GENETICS- AN EPIC TOPPIC

The human body is an incredibly complex and intelligent organism, capable of healing and restore itself in many ways- the body can also change its DNA- the genetic material that determines our traits and characteristics. Fascinating.

This process, known as epigenetics, has been scientifically proven to occur and has profound implications for our health and well-being.

Been there done that without knowing there is a word for it…

Epigenetics- is the study of changes in gene expression that do not involve changes to the underlying DNA sequence. These changes can be caused by a variety of factors, including environmental influences, lifestyle choices, our thoughts and emotions.

So, our genes can actually be changed by our environment and our daily lifestyle choices. For example; studies have shown that certain dietary and lifestyle factors, such as exercise and stress management, can actually change the expression of our genes. This means that we absolutely have the power to influence our own health and well-being through the choices we make.

The effect of meditation on gene expression:

My self studies and other studies have shown that regular meditation can actually change the expression of genes involved in inflammation and stress response, leading to improved overall health outcomes (body-mind-soul).
