FENG SHUI BEDROOM EDITION
Feng Shui literally translates to ‘wind and water.’ The Chinese practice of manipulating the Life Force Energy is embedded in controlling the ‘CHI’ which is the Flow of energy. so Feng Shui focuses on those two primary energy forces of wind and water to affect the areas of your life.
Wind and water have the capacity to flow in free-form. The elements of Feng Shui are arranged such that these natural elements flow through the living space of the household. The good energy that is emitted due to the use of Feng Shui, affects the temperament, vitality, and overall well-being of the inhabitants.
As a Feng shui interior practininer myself I know that the bedroom is one of the most important rooms in the home. It's where we spend a third of our lives, and it's where we go to rest, recharge, and rejuvenate. That's why it's essential to create a bedroom that has a positive energy flow, or chi, which can help us sleep better, reduce stress, and improve our overall health and well-being.
Here are some tips on how to create the perfect energy flow in your bedroom:
Colors
Colors play a vital role in Feng shui, and they can have a significant impact on the energy flow in your bedroom. Soft, muted colors like light blue, lavender, and green are ideal for the bedroom or beige and soft brown tones as they promote relaxation and calmness. Avoid bright, bold colors like red or orange, which can be too stimulating.
Plants
Plants are an excellent way to bring nature into your bedroom and improve the air quality. They also help to reduce stress and promote relaxation. Choose plants like peace lilies, snake plants, or English ivy, which are known for their air-purifying properties.
Water
Water is a symbol of wealth and abundance in Feng shui. Adding a small fountain or just glass buckets or glass water bottles to your bedroom can help to create a calming and peaceful atmosphere. Just be sure to keep the water clean and free from any clutter.
Doors
The bedroom door should always be easily accessible and able to open fully without any obstructions. This allows the energy to flow freely throughout the room. Avoid placing any furniture or clutter near the door, as this can block the energy flow.
Mirrors
Mirrors are a powerful Feng shui tool and can help to reflect light and energy throughout the room. Just be mindful of where you place them. Avoid placing mirrors directly opposite the bed, as this can create an energetic imbalance and disrupt your sleep.
In addition to these tips, it's essential to pay attention to the most important elements in the bedroom, including the bed, bedding, and lighting.
The bed should be placed in the commanding position, which means it should be easily visible from the door but not in line with it.
Choose high-quality bedding that feels soft and comfortable
Avoid any clutter or electronics (like a TV) in the bedroom. Yes, your phone is ok-we have to get up in the morning. But if you you can sleep in, charge your phone, iPad etc. outside your bedroom from time to time.
